Description
The Outpost, on the water at Point Baker, Northwest tip of Prince of Wales Island, third largest island in U.S. Possession and within the Tongass National Forest, presents opportunity for unique Southeast Alaska experiences.
All five varieties of Pacific salmon school within a quarter mile of our doors. Fishing for the "Wild Alaska King Salmon" begins early in spring and we have bounteous early and late runs of Silvers. Several species of rockfish, yellow-eye snapper, ling cod and the much sought Pacific Halibut, ranging in size to several hundred pounds are available all season.
The OUTPOST is secluded in the southeast Alaska rainforest and no road comes within miles, allowing you to relax in the quiet solitude of nature.
As of the census of 2000, there were 35 people, 13 households, and 9 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 36.4 people per square mile (14.1/km). There were 23 housing units at an average density of 23.9/sq mi (9.3/km). The racial makeup of the CDP was 91.43% White, 2.86% Native American, and 5.71% from two or more races.
